Ball control and passing exercises

pizara2

As the saying goes, “you can’t put the cart before the horse”. The team’s tactical work is useless if the players don’t have good skills. The ability to move the ball is an extremely important individual aspect which is reflected in team play. Normally, it is something that is practised in the lower categories and gets forgotten over the years. I feel that it is something that should also be trained in senior and professional teams. If we introduce pair work and competitive exercises, the technical work can be great fun!

You can find a training session focused on ball control and passing below.

Attack Concepts for Training Teams

Yesterday I had the opportunity to give a talk for my friends of the CB Granada Foundation in the Veleta pavilion. The topic I talked about was “Attack Concepts for Training Teams”. There was a lot of interaction from the attendees and very interesting questions that helped the development of the talk and made it more complete.

A pleasure as always to collaborate with the CB Granada Foundation.

Clinic Morrocco Basketball Federation

Last weekend, I did a clinic for coaches in the City of Rabat (Morocco).

Invited by the Moroccan Federation of Basketball I made four practices in the Sports Palace of Rabat, where more than 150 coaches from across the country have attended and participated as listeners in that clinic. We also have the collaboration of some youth players of the federation who conducted the exercises.
The topics discussed in the clinic were:

– Pick&Roll tactical aspects in offense
– Screen Defense details
– Inside game / perimeter game
– Drill for improving decision in offense (game reading)

The Federation has considered the Clinic as a success by the large participation and the interest shown by the coaches. After each presentation, coaches presented their questions and discussed the proposed topics opened.

From here I would like to thank the Federation of Morocco invitation and specifically in people Nour Amri (Technical Director of the Federation of Morocco), Rouas Halib and Gustavo Aranzana who received us and treated excellently. They were days of intense basketball, share experiences and interested conversation with other coaches. I hope we see each other again!!
